Camp Nikos 2008

About

May 18, 2007

Camp Nikos is a week long summer camp hosted by Mission: Possible! Austin for underprivileged inner city kids.

The theme at camp this year is “Great Park - Land of the King.” This comes from the “Tales of the Kingdom” books by David Mains. In these stories, the Great Park is where those in trouble find safety and love. The kids who attend camp face so many issues that most of us never face - from neglect or abuse at home, trouble with peers at school, or the pressure of drugs and violence completely surrounding them. Our goal is to love on them and instill in them the hope and the love that comes with eternal peace and from the love of the Lord. Lessons and regular camp activities such as fishing, swimming, ropes, and crafts provide opportunities to love on them and teach these truths to the children. Camp Nikos is a safe and loving place where kids can be kids while not fearing the dangers of the inner-city streets. It is a life experience that most remember for a lifetime.

It is truly amazing to watch how much a child’s live can be impacted in just five days. Their response to the love and attention they receive is incredible.
